So, if you still want files without DRM, you will want iTunesMatch. iTunes Match has a limit of 25,000 tracks, not including iTunes Store purchases.īoth iTunesMatch, and Apple Music are subscription based services. You can also download your files to any computer linked to your iTunes Match account, and listen to your music on any linked iOS device.
This will enable subscribers to download 256 kbps AAC files, and with no DRM. If you have less than ideal bitrate tracks(which in my opinion is anything under 128 kbps), iTunes Match can legitimately upgrade them. However, if you use iTunesMatch, iTunes matches your library, uploads any unmatched tracks, and makes your music available on multiple devices through the iCloud Music Library. So if you cancel the service, the file is useless, and to my knowledge, there is no a way to strip the DRM from these files. The files from Apple Music are DRM laden (Digital Rights Management). If you are already using Apple Music, you are probably already aware that if you make the file available offline, the file is still "yours" as long as you pay/subscribe for the Apple Music service. So why would I need iTunes Match? The answer would be found in the files themselves, which are downloaded. After all, Apple Music gives its subscribers unlimited access to the world's largest music, and movie library. One issue I encountered recently was the debate of whether or not iTunes Match subscribers would even need to use that service anymore. However, no new service is ever without it's initial issues after launch. This feature can come in handy, if you have no data service available, and want to listen to your favorite artists.
Like Spotify, and Tidal, you are also given the option to make your music available offline. I also appreciate the fact that they give you three months free to try out, this commercial free music streaming service. Generally speaking, I like the service, and I am currently subscribed. Social networks and news feeds are buzzing since Apple launched their new music streaming service, named "Apple Music".
